flea market finds.

A few of my favorites from this weekend's flea market:

Road Maps from the 1960's and 1970's.

Plenty of vintage buttons.

Books (and a yearbook!) dating back to as early as the 1920's.

Vintage pencil boxes with pencils. (I adore these!)

Lots of paper from an Italian cruise.

Fun vintage wrapping paper.

Many of these will be coming to the shop in the next week or two. Stay tuned if you see something you like!

weekend recap.

Unfortunately my weekend did not include a lot of red, white, and blue despite it being the 4th of July. You see, our city is broke and decided to do its fireworks last Wednesday to save some money. Despite having to watch fireworks on TV on Saturday, it was still one of the best weekends I've had in awhile. Each of the following played a part:

There were some clouds, but also plenty of long overdue sun! We took the opportunity to take a little walk. Plenty of green after all of the rain we have been having.

I am still waiting (and hoping) for some flowers from the seeds I planted, but had to sneak one while on our walk (just one!). Had a meal or two on the patio in our $0.50/each estate sale chairs!

Two of my favorite things: coffee and the flea market! (Pictures of my flea market finds coming later this afternoon.)

"Date night" consisted of ice cream and a few games of Scrabble Slam on the patio. If you've never played Scrabble Slam you need to pick it up this week! It's only about $5 from Target. Despite my enthusiasm for the game, I am yet to win a round of it (and we've played about 30 rounds total). That is my "loser shot" - 0 for 0 games won.

Hope your weekend was a lovely as mine!

affordable treats, no. 2.

Last week I put together care packages for some friends back in California. Since I was putting together several packages, I tried to keep each package under $10 and was surprised how easy it was to keep within this budget. If you take a little time to look around you can find some really unique, really awesome products are really reasonable prices. Another set of some afforable treats, many from Etsy and a few from other great online shops:

july goals.

Like everyone else, I have a hard time believing it is July already. There is no better time than the beginning of a new month to set some new goals. I've read it's best to share your goals with other people because you'll feel more obligated to actually accomplish them. With that, here are three goals I hope to meet by the end of July:

1. Roam the flea market twice, and go to 5 tag sales.

I have mentioned previously that I recently moved from California to Connecticut. During the first month or so I had a lot of fun discovering some good flea markets and found some good tag sales. I thought I was on a roll. Then it started to rain, and hasn't stopped. I haven't been to the flea market or a tag sale for over a month because it has rained every weekend. In fact, our county is under a "Severe Thunderstorm Advisory" as I write this. It will take some cooperation from the weather to accomplish this goal, but I plan to do my best.

2. Get a bloom.

I don't have a green thumb, but I try. I planted a bunch of seeds a month or two ago and was off to a good start. They sprouted and started to grow, but have hit a rough spot. They seem to have plateaued without a bloom in sight. I am thinking I may need to thin them out a little? Any advice? If I don't get a bloom by the end of the month I think I will just blame the sun, or lack thereof. If I do get a bloom, I will take all of the credit.

3. Put Together Mini Album of Past Year

This past year has been full of many changes for me, and along the way I've saved lots of pictures, tickets, receipts, and other mementos. I think it's time to finally gather them all together in a mini scrapbook of some kind, perhaps in a design similar to the mixed paper journals so I can constantly add to it.

I promise to keep you updated of any and all progress along the way.
